Cooly man on 329 graffiti charges
POLICE have charged a Coolangatta man with 329 counts of wilful damage by graffiti and one count of possessing tainted property.
The 18-year-old was charged along with 19 others for 1544 offences.
Operation Juliet Hoodlum commenced in September 2011 and was conducted by members of the Queensland State Crime Operations Command's Graffiti Task Force.
The operation targeted graffiti and wilful damage of Queensland Rail trains and Brisbane City Council property.
In April this year, investigators from the group with assistance from officers from the Gold Coast executed a search warrant on a Burleigh Waters address.
Police seized a number of items including computers, mobile phones, sketch books, spray cans and documents.
As part of the investigation, the task force identified graffiti groups operating on the Gold Coast and on Brisbane's north-side, who collectively were responsible for property damage in excess of $200,000.
During the operation police seized a quantity of cannabis, drug equipment and explosives (fireworks).
