Condong school celebrates milestone
A SCHOOL with a long history in the Tweed wants former students to return to the classrooms.
Condong Public School is celebrating its 125th anniversary next year, and principal Terry Timms said the anniversary was a milestone worth celebrating.
"This is a remarkable achievement for this great little school that has played such an integral part in the local community and very worthy of a celebration in 2013," Mr Timms said.
The school is calling all past students, staff and interested community members to attend the inaugural planning meeting for the 125th anniversary celebrations.
Eunice Higgins is one former student who will help in the celebrations.
Ms Higgins was at the Condong school between 1952 and 1959 and was the chairperson of the Centenary committee in 1988.
This meeting will be held at the Condong school on Wednesday, September 5 at 1.15pm.
"At this meeting a planning committee will be elected to coordinate the celebration in 2013," Mr Timms said.
