A COMMITTEE set up to support the Banora Point Community Centre was disbanded earlier this month.
Tweed Shire councillor voted to disband the committee at a council meeting earlier this month when councillors were nominated to sit on committees for their term in office.

Council's Director of Community and Natural Resources, David Oxenham, said the Banora Point Community Centre committee had become inactive and had not met for the past three years.

"In addition, council is now examining a new management structure for the Banora Point Community Centre and is looking at a more community-orientated arrangement," Mr Oxenham said.

"So council has disbanded the committee and will be engaging with the community to consider what form this new management structure should take."

During the meeting the council also voted to defer the appointment of delegates to the Beach Safety Liaison Committee and the newly established Community Cultural Development Advisory Committee.
