Cause of fire at Mur’bah last week still unknown
FIREFIGHTERS are still hazy on what ignited a fire in Murwillumbah on Friday.
"It is still undetermined," Murwillumbah Fire and Rescue Captain Greg Hayes said.
"There were around nine homeless people living there but they were all accounted for in the afternoon as far as I know."
Tweed/Byron LAC Inspector Greg Jago said police were investigating the fire but nothing further had been found.
About 1.30pm Friday an old railway shed on Tweed Valley Way, occupied by squatters, went up in flames.
It took found hoses to extinguish the suspicious fire which completely destroyed the structure.
There was no power supply to the building.
