Car gets airborne, hits trees in crash at Glenugie
A HALFWAY Creek man is lucky to be alive after his car became airborne and hit trees four metres above the ground after it left the Pacific Highway south of Grafton this afternoon.
Police said the vehicle was travelling north near the Bald Knob Road intersection when it crossed double lines and left the road about 4pm.
The vehicle hit a concrete culvert near the intersection and bounced into the air, striking trees four metres above the ground, before coming to rest on its wheels.
The sole occupant, a man believed to be in his 50s, was taken by road ambulance to Coffs Harbour Hospital.
Police said he was complaining of back pain and had lacerations to his forehead.
