Butchers ham it up!
THE butchers at Alstonville Quality Meats are hamming it up in the lead-up to Christmas.
Behind the traditional butchers' blue-and-white striped apron will be some surprises.
You will be greeted in the store this week by a Christmas fairy, an elf and even Santa preparing the meat for sale.
The boys are getting into the spirit of Christmas.
And it's also part of their entry in the Alstonville-Wollongbar Chamber of Commerce's Best-Dressed Business competition, with the butcher won.
Owner Ashley Thomson said it was "all a bit of fun".
The fancy-dress butchers have caught the eye of locals.
Meanwhile, president of the chamber of commerce, Lisa Dillon, said 27 businesses took part in the competition.
For their efforts, Alstonville Quality Meats won an advertising package with The Northern Star/Advocate.
And the People's Choice award went to Ace Variety Store. The lucky shopper who voted for the store, and wins a $100 shopping voucher to spend at participating businesses, was K Pimm.
