Boys, 10 and 11, in plot to kill girl

TWO primary school children have been charged with plotting to kill another student at their school, "because she was really annoying".

An affidavit has been lodged against the two boys, aged 10 and 11, after a gun, an ammunition clip and a knife were found in the 10-year-old boy's bag at Fort Colville Elementary School, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The boys were both in fifth grade at the Colville, Washington school, and reportedly were going to use the weapons to entice the girl outside and kill her.

It was reported they also planned to attack another six children.

Police said the knife was 8.25cm long and the gun was a .45-calibre semi-automatic handgun.

Stevens County prosecuting attorney Timothy Rasmussen told the LA Times the boys had a "plot to kill".

He said he would argue that the boys should be held criminally responsible for the charges.

The plot was uncovered when another student spotted the weapons and told a teacher.

The boys are facing charges of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and of witness tampering after they reportedly offered $80 to another student to keep the plot secret.
