Borrowed boat sinks off Tweed after hitting big wave
THREE sailors got the shock of their lives when their boat sunk off Duranbah beach this morning.
Tweed/Byron Local Area Command Inspector Jason Dowds said the men were on their way to Cook Island in their brother-in-law's 8m boat.
"The boat was struck by a wave about 200m out and capsized," he said.
The men abandoned ship and made their way to shore unharmed.
Police are now investigating the incident.
