Book reveals happy life secrets
FIRST-time author Shelley Wilson, of Kirra, believes her book The Buffalo Thorn will change the world.
Ms Wilson said her husband Neville, who died 12 years ago from cancer, inspired her to write the book and share the secrets how to live a simple and happy life.
Although not a professional, Mr Wilson gave many motivational speeches and had a huge impact on those he met, Ms Wilson said.
In his memory and to pass on his message, Ms Wilson decided to write the book and in preparation travelled the globe to seek out people in extreme circumstances to find out what made them tick and how they dealt with their world.
On one of her trips Ms Wilson met Jafari, an eight-year-old Tanzanian Boy, who wanted to become a guide but didn't have the means to make that possible.
Ms Wilson decided that helping Jafari reach his simple goal was a fitting aim and resolved to use her book to make it happen.
About two years ago, Ms Wilson started work on the book and found it simply poured out.
The book is semi-autobiographical and aims to give a simple answer how to live a good and happy life.
"I live a happy life and want to share that," Ms Wilson said.
"We're all born with the answer inside us but life overwhelms us and puts us on the wrong track."
She said organised religions muddied the water and the message of how to live simply was lost.
"Still your mind and let your heart listen to your soul speak," Ms Wilson advised.
A part of the proceeds of the book will be used to pay for Jafari's education and the money for the first year of the boy's schooling is already in the bank.
