WHILE most New Year's Eve revellers collapsed into bed this morning nursing their first hangover of the year, Lismore's Memorial Baths was pumping to dance beats at the annual Tropical Fruits Pool Party.

For what some argue is the best party in the community organisation's three-day celebration, about 700 people danced pool side, watched strutting drag queens, played on inflatables, and of course chilled out after a big New Year's eve.

Event co-ordinator Shane Duniam said the alcohol-free party was a chance for revellers to relax and rehydrate.

"After a big night it's important to give people a chance to rehydrate and get some food into them," he said.

And being a Tropical Fruits event that can only be done to a disco beat, in this case provided by local DJ 1I Samurai and Sydneysider Matt Vaughan.
