Ballina man accused of throwing lounge from Tamworth balcony

A BALLINA man will appear in Tamworth Local Court on Monday accused of causing grevious bodily harm to a woman by throwing a lounge from a seven metre high balcony of a Tamworth Hotel.

Police allege at about 10pm on Friday the 32-year-old Ballina man and a 28-year-old man from Queensland threw a two seater lounge from the balcony which hit and seriously injured a 43-year-old woman.

The men were arrested and taken to Tamworth police station where they were both charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm in company and assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.

The woman remains in a serious condition in hospital.
