NOBODY was hurt in a structural collapse at a luxurious Casuarina resort on Monday.

An awning detached from the side wall of the resort at 4pm.

Tweed Police Inspector Gary Cowan said it sent "wood and titles crashing down."

Tweed Heads and Kingscliff Fire Brigade station officer Steve Sharp said the fire brigade were called because the fall triggered the sprinkler system.

"We carried out a search and no one was injured," he said.

"No one was around other than a number of cars which sustained minor damage."

The fire brigade restored the fire system when police arrived and secured the scene.

A spokeswoman from Santai Resort said no one was hurt in the incident and a professional had been called in to find out why the awning fell from the five-year-old building.

"It's just one of those things," she said

"We've got an engineer coming in to find out why."
