Awards for talented physical culture pair in historic year
TWO of the region's finest physical culturalists were rewarded for making this year an historic one for the Grafton Physical Culture Club.
Breeanna Hunter, 6, and Mikayla O'Mahoney, 12, received Outstanding Achiever awards for reaching their respective finals of the 2012 National Championships at the State Sports Centre in Homebush last weekend.
O'Mahoney made the national finals for the first time in her six appearances, while Hunter qualified in her debut.
Instructor Justine Crispin said it was a great achievement by both of the girls, proving that all the hard work in class had paid off.
Josie Bindon (7 years age group) and Candice Ingram (13 years age group) qualified for their respective semi-finals in the club's most successful year at the national titles.
It was the first time the club has had two competitors reach the final in the junior age sections since they opened in 1979.
If you're interested in joining next year, the registration day will be held on Tuesday, February 5 between 4pm and 6pm at the Grafton Primary School Hall in Bacon St.
