Australia Day chance for photographers to snap up $500

BUDDING photographers have a chance to snap up a casual $500 this Australia Day.

Clarence Valley Council is putting up the prize and with an abundant amount of activities planned for Australia Day this weekend, there are ample opportunities to take a photo that will put you in the running.

Mayor Richie Williamson said entries for the Clarence Valley In Focus competition are about to close, so shutterbugs need to grab their cameras and start shooting before it's too late.

"The Australia Day weekend is a busy time in the Clarence Valley and offers photographers a lot of material for some wonderful photos," Cr Williamson said.

"Not only do photographers get a chance to have their works exhibited at the prestigious Grafton Regional Gallery, but each finalist will also be entitled to $500 to cover the rights associated with using the photographs as part of the exhibition."

The competition closes at 5pm on January 31 with the exhibition planned for March. All photographs being submitted must have been taken after January 1, 2012. Each entrant may submit up to three photos.

Once you have taken your competition-winning photos, go to the photography competition website to download the entry form and to find out the full details of the competition.
