Missing man shows up 900km away

A MAN who went missing in the Warrumbungle National Park last Wednesday walked into Tweed Heads police station yesterday.

Alexander Dale, 61, was camping with his wife at Blackmans Camp in the Warrumbungle National Park when he disappeared after going for a walk on the other side of the park.

He was reported missing after he failed to return from the walk.

Police from Coonabarabran searched the national park with the assistance of the Volunteer Rescue Association, Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Service and NSW National Parks and Wildlife Services.

Mr Dale went into the Tweed Heads Police Station, almost 900km away, about 1.30pm yesterday.

He was safe and well.

Police thanked members of the public and media for their assistance with the matter.
