A church with no name helps homeless
HOMELESS people in the Tweed and Coolangatta area seem to be very shy about seeking help.
Founder and pastor of God's No Name Church, Lyn Borthistle knows only too well.
For this reason, she has taken to the streets to help with clothing and food.
"I'm overjoyed by the success brought by getting out there to help at a grass roots level," she said.
Ms Borthistle has 'walked the walk' in regard to homelessness.
She lost her house through sickness and has experienced firsthand the humiliation and degradation that comes with being homeless..
She believes it is her calling to be there for them.
"I want to help the downtrodden and know what they need," she said.
"I'm doing it the hard way, but I don't mind.
"I only wish I could do more."
Two young homeless people recently showed their appreciation.
"It was very touching," Ms Borthistle said.
"They gave me a bent card.
"I will treasure it.
"It means everything."
The card thanked her in their own way.
"We love for you n' God's work witch (sic) we love," it read.
