At the Gasland screening are Petrina Maizey, Bryne Smith, Rose Adams, Linda Ray, Drew Hunter, Libby Connors and Samantha Moms.
ABOUT 70 people, some of them from the Tweed, turned up to a screening of the anti-gas mining documentary Gasland at Robina on the weekend in the wake of claims that half the Tweed Shire is already covered by coal-seam gas exploration licences.
The group who attended the screening at the Robina Community Centre on Saturday also listened to Greens Party campaigner Drew Hutton, who last week was arrested by Queensland police for trespassing on a gas mining lease.
They were also addressed by Libby Connors, a campaigner with the Lock The Gate Alliance which urges farmers to keep the miners off their properties.
The screening and talks were organised by the Gold Coast and Hinterland Environment Council, known as Gecko, which argues the Tweed exploration permits could lead to the controversial practice of fraccing, which has been blamed for poisoning undergroundwater.
