Fun in the sun: Toddler Charlie Grace enjoys a run as parents Michael and Liz and psychologist Julie Henry look on.
POSITIVE parenting can make a huge difference in a family's life, according to research.
Which is why psychologist Julie Henry, from Living Well Psychology and Counselling in Tweed Heads, is running Positive Parenting Programs (Triple P).
“The Triple P allows mums and dads to work from the same evidence-based approach to manage children's behaviour and to promote healthy self-esteem,” Ms Henry said.
“It is a great way for both parents to support each other raising bright and healthy children.”
Ms Henry said the program aimed to enhance family protective factors and reduce risk factors associated with severe behavioural and emotional problems in children and adolescents.
“Ideally parents should attend parenting classes early so that they can build their confidence before normal childhood problems get out of hand.” She added by working as a team parenting can be lots of fun and in turn the relationship of the parents is strengthened.
The classes will be run during the evening so working parents can both attend at the same time. Details: (07) 5599 2201 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting (07) 5599 2201 end_of_the_skype_highlighting.
