ACCLAIMED Russian pianist Tatiana Kolesova arrived at Gold Coast Airport yesterday ahead of her performances this weekend in Tyalgum.

The pianist, who is currently a student at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, was overall second-prize winner at the 2008 Sydney International Piano Competition and will perform as part of the 19th annual Tyalgum Festival of Classical Music which kicks off tonight.

Tatiana said she was so pleased to be able to play at the Tyalgum festival and was looking forward to being the opening performer once again.

“I love the people and the audiences and am so happy to play here two years after my first performance,” she said.

Tatiana has given recitals in Russia, Italy, Spain, Poland, Great Britain, Switzerland, Israel and Germany. She has recorded for radio and TV in Russia, Poland, Italy, France, Israel and England and has been a prize-winner in several international piano competitions.

Tyalgum Festival of Classical Music co-ordinator Alexsandra Wilkinson said they were thrilled to see Tatiana return to the festival after her previous performance in 2008.

“Her gracious and generous manner, virtuosity and sheer brilliance sold out the hall and left the audience begging for more, despite a 90-minute performance,” she said.
