THE inaugural Cooly Rocks On event will not be officially launched at Speed on Tweed as first believed.
A miscommunication between organisers for both events is believed to have led to advertising claiming the launch for the rock 'n' roll nostalgia festival would be part of next weekend's festival.
But Hanson Media Group, which represents Cooly Rocks On, said it would be a celebration of the new event but not the official launch.
Material mistakenly promoting the launch had been circulating in the community and online for weeks.
“We believe it was announced that way due to a miscommunication,” said Ian Hanson.
“We definitely have a promotional event planned for Speed on Tweed but it's not the official launch.”
Mr Hanson said the date and location for the formal launch had yet to be set.
According to the Speed on Tweed website, next Saturday's show will be hosted by impressionist and comedian David Mitchell.
Musical acts will be The Chevrolets and Just The Ticket.
A Speed on Tweed spokesman yesterday confirmed the mix-up in the promotion.
“There was some confusion over the wording,” he said.
Cooly Rocks On is scheduled for Coolangatta and Tweed Heads from June 3 to 13 next year.
Speed on Tweed begins next Friday.
