Toppled: Australian representative Kelvin Kerkow.
SOUTH Tweed bowls powerhouse Kelvin Kerkow and Mark Thatcher fell to giant-killers Neville Jenkins and Nigel Smith in the $10,000 South Tweed Men's and Ladies Classic Pairs men's first division final last night.
The South Tweed Bowls Club pairing of Jenkins and Smith had a remarkable run, coming back from the brink of defeat on more than one occasion to win the first division crown ahead of Kerkow and Thatcher (Helensvale).
Jenkins and Smith had to come back from 13-1 behind, then rely on other results to take out section 16 on Tuesday. They then went on to beat the number one ranked singles player Anthony Kiepe and his partner in the second semi-final and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Kerkow and Thatcher in the final.
