THE Tweed Coast Tigers sent a thunderous roar through the Summerland Australian Rules Football League with a savage 28-goal victory over Nimbin at Round Mountain on Saturday.
Undefeated since round one, the 34.40-244 to 6.3-33 triumph capped an incredible year for the Tigers who captured their maiden minor premiership in just their second season in the Northern Rivers competition.
However, to be the real kings of the jungle, the Tigers know they must secure their first flag on grand final day.
“We've certainly put in the hard work throughout the season and to come to where we are now with our only loss being in the first game of the year is a remarkable effort,” Tigers' Jai Pursell said.
“It's great to finish the season on top but the finals take on a new perspective, higher intensity, and the opportunity is there for the bigger prizes.
“We had a little lull a few matches ago but we are back in formidable form which is great timing for us coming into the semi-finals.
“It's a credit to the club, committee and players that we are where we are, and it would be a great pay-off to win a flag.”
The Tigers will line up against Ballina on Saturday in the first semi-final, with the winner to advance directly to the grand final and the loser to play the winner of the second semi-final between Byron Bay and Lismore.
