Hopes for Suns final home game

THE Gold Coast Suns play their final home match in the VFL this weekend when they do battle with the Werribee Tigers at Southport today.

Still recovering from last weekend’s heartbreaking three-point loss to Casey Scorpions, despite leading for most of the match, Gold Coast will be hoping to secure a victory over an opponent who is sitting behind them on the ladder only on percentage.

The clash between these two sides earlier in the season was a thriller, with the Suns giving up a seven-goal lead in the third quarter and the match eventually finishing in a draw.

This match promises to be similarly close, with both sides showing form of late, after slow starts to the season.

In team changes, Gold Coast have made five this week, with Charlie Dixon, Nathan Ablett, Taylor Hine, Piers Flanagan and Lewis Moss returning to the side.

Out of the side are Jack Stanlake, Matthew Gugliotta, Matthew Fowler, Jack Stanley, Roland Ah Chee and David Swallow.

Losing Swallow will be a big loss for the Suns as he was one of their best players this season – last week kicking five goals.

Senior coach Guy McKenna hopes his side can repay the faith shown by the local supporters this year with a farewell victory.

The bounce is at 2pm.
