MAN'S best friend sure knows how to throw a party.
Tweed Heads organisation Friends of the Pound celebrated a decade of goodwill towards cats and dogs this weekend with a birthday bash at Salt Central Park on Saturday.
Thousands of people and their dogs turned up, including those previously sold through the Tweed Pound and re-homed through Friends of the Pound.
Group president Narelle Shallcross said it was good to see every man and his dog.
“The atmosphere there was absolutely beautiful,” Ms Shallcross said.
“I’ve never seen so many people out for something like that. We’ve just got such a presence in the community it was fantastic to see everyone out there supporting us like that.
“One lady came all the way from Armidale to be with us on the day. She bought her dog from us years ago.”
The crowd applauded as a parade of dogs sold through the Tweed Pound or Friends of the Pound circled the park.
Children were kept happy with face painting, hair weaving and jumping castles.
