THE first Casuarina Beach Junior Rugby Union Sevens Gala Day was such a huge success last Saturday that the club is set to make it an annual event.
It didn’t matter that the local boys were upstaged by their Gold Coast Rugby Union counterparts – it wasn’t about that.
It was a pre-season competition, one focused on game and player development, mateship and fun, and a good way for Casuarina to raise some much-needed funds to help grow the code locally.
The host club finished third in the under-13s and fourth in the under-14s behind Surfers Paradise and The Southport School respectively.
