Police hunting armed bandits

A SAWN-off shotgun is believed to have been used in the armed robbery of staff at a Pottsville hotel yesterday afternoon.

Police last night confirmed an unknown number of assailants had held up the Potts-Full Tavern about 3.30pm.

The armed robbery occurred at the Overall Drive establishment, behind Pottsville Waters Shopping Centre.

Initial reports indicated a stolen car was used in the getaway.

Tweed Heads Police were unable to confirm what sort of weapon was used in the robbery.

The tavern and drive-through were shut yesterday afternoon as police interviewed distraught staff members and witnesses.

Police vehicles were seen patrolling the neighbourhood shortly after.

Police were last night searching for the suspects.
