IF you are planning on hitting the water this weekend, be prepared for some rough seas.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a strong wind warning from Point Danger to Wooli and winds of 15/20 knots are expected on Saturday and Sunday, reaching 20/30 knots at times on Saturday.

It could be good news for surfers though as seas may reach up to three metres with a swell of 1.5 to 2.5 metres.

Showers are expected for both days.

Temperatures are expected to range from 19 degrees to 26 degrees on Saturday and 18 degrees to 26 degrees on Sunday.

Saturday's high tide at the Tweed Heads river entrance is at 7.56am and will peak at about 1.5m, followed by a 0.2m low at 2.18pm. There will be a 1.2m high tide at 8.12pm on Saturday night.

Sunday mornings 1.5m high tide is expected at 8.58am and a 0.2m low tide at 2.46pm. Sunday night's high will be at 8.44pm, reaching 1.3m.
