The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter airlifted the two injured males to Lismore Base Hospital.
A HUSBAND and wife have died in a head-on crash with a p-plater on the Pacific Highway between Maclean and Woodburn.
Two Holden Commodores collided head-on about 8am at Tabbimoble, 12kms south of New Italy.
The couple, both aged in their 60s, died at the scene.
A 17-year-old p-plater, who was travelling north and his male front seat passenger, aged 17, were airlifted to Lismore Base Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The road was closed until just before midday, while officers from the Ballina Crash Investigation Unit examined the scene.
They have taken the Commodore for mechanical examination and are also in the process of informing the couple’s next of kin.
