CONRAD Green left the other youngsters in his wake during the North Coast Swimming Championships at Oasis Pools last Thursday.

The Tweed Heads South Public School student was the meet’s standout swimmer, racing away to victory in each of the four strokes individually, and blowing his opponents out of the water in the individual medley.

As a result of his dynamite display, Conrad not only left the other kids green with envy, but convincingly claimed the 11-years boys' age champion award and even more remarkably, top honours as the overall champion male swimmer. THSP assistant principal Wayne Foran praised Conrad for his efforts, saying he deserved success for the hours of hard work he puts in at the Tweed Heads Indoor Pool under Tony Lewis and Michael Tom.

“Winning the overall champion boy award was all the more special as he was competing for that honour against a lot of older boys,” Foran said.

“It’s an outstanding achievement and well deserved. He really puts back into swimming and supports the younger kids.”

The reigning NSW under-10 50m butterfly champion, Conrad looks set to follow in the footsteps of his mother Kim (nee Johnson) who also won NSW championship honours as a THSP student.
