INSPIRATIONAL and empowering women kicked off the Tweed’s International Women’s Day celebrations yesterday.
Mercy Ships Dr Judith Goa, RAAF flying officer Eleanor Webb and aspiring neurosurgeon Larissa Gray were the guest speakers at the Coolangatta Tweed View Club event, program officer Penelope Thorpe said.
“Everybody seemed very happy with it; the speakers were fantastic,” Mrs Thorpe said.
“They were very inspirational, particularly Dr Goa.”
Ms Thorpe said the morning was run by well-known identity Maggie-Anne Leybourne and guests were also addressed by recipient of the NSW Premier’s Award for contribution to the community, Karlene Polglase.
