Walker returns to the nest

Shannon Walker will return to the Tweed Heads Seagulls at Ned Byrne Oval tonight.

THE man of mystery will make his return to Ned Byrne Oval tonight.

Is it a bird? Well a Tweed Heads Seagull, but no.

Is it a plane?

Obviously not, and no it’s not superman either, but he can be just as exciting to watch.

Having played in each of the Gold Coast Titans’ opening pre-season trials, Shannon Walker returns to the nest to battle Logan.

It will be his first outing in the butcher’s stripes for the new year, and all at Seagulls HQ are hoping he can find the form that once made him the Queensland Cup’s most lethal attacking weapon.

While he may have been short in confidence during his cameo NRL appearances in the blue and gold, Titans coach John Cartwright knows what Walker is capable of on his day, as does Seagulls coach Ben Anderson. The pair, along with all the Seagulls faithful, hope he can get back to where he left off.

“He’s definitely got the ability,” Anderson said.

“Let’s hope he can produce.”

Walker has been training with the Titans throughout the pre-season so how he slots in at the back of a relatively fresh Seagulls XIII remains to be seen.

It also remains to be seen whether the electric, superman Walker returns tonight, or whether his alter-ego, the confidence-lacking Clarke Kent, takes to the field. But all will be revealed from 7pm.
