Local girls rally for race

NOT even the roar of rally cars could compete with the sound of cameras snapping an army of Repco Rally girls last night.

Thirty gorgeous girls took centre stage for the launch of Repco Rally Australia in Murwillumbah yesterday.

Amongst their busy duties, they managed to get together for a group photo in front of the big screen television before dispersing throughout the crowd, handing out free key chains, vouchers and posing for more photographs.

Mixed amongst the models were three local girls, Emma from Tweed Heads, Natalie from Murwillumbah and Bianca from Banora Point.

Last night proved to be quite a homecoming for Natalie, who recently moved back to the area after seven years away.

“I'm not rally a fan of the rally but this is a great atmosphere,” Natalie said.

“I think it's great that Murwillumbah finally has a chance to show what it's got to an international audience.

“We've done such a great job hosting events with the banana festival that was just on and Speed on Tweed coming back this weekend.”

Repco Rally girl Bianca from Banora Point was a bit more in tune with the world of motor sport.

She was a Miss Indy national finalist in 2004 and also worked as a manager for the V8 Ute Racing Series for several years.

After a short break she is ready to get back into the world of motor sport with a rally in her own backyard.

“I've never been to a rally before but I'm a big motor sport fan,” Bianca said.

“I'm really looking forward to what the World Rally Championships has in stock for us.”
