Tigers and Magpies put on a show

THE Tweed Coast Tiger Cubs were at home last weekend against the Byron Bay Magpies and parents and spectators alike were treated to some really good football in all three grades.

The under-10s began the day with some really good team football.

They were in front at three quarter time with the crowd behind them, however they faded badly in the last quarter to go down by 29 points.

Still, another win can't be far away. The final score was BB 9.4-58 to TC 4.5-29.

The magnificent under-12 side kept their winning record on track with another great performance.

It is worth going to the football just to see these guys in action.

In fact, a keen judge expressed the opinion that it was the best under-12 game he had seen for a few years.

The backline was tremendous holding out the Byron challenge. The final score was TC 7.8-50 to BB 4.7-31.

The under-14s were tremendous most of the day, with a lapse for just a few minutes early in the final quarter allowing Byron to Score a couple of quick goals and gain the ascendency.

Still the boys did not give-up and fought the game out to the end to go down narrowly by 12 points. Final score BB 8.11-59 to TC 6.11-47.

Selections for the Northern Rivers Representative team to play the Coffs Harbour Representative team are being undertaken.
